Unless you've been living atop a little hill, in a little hut meditating and litening to birds for the last couple of months you'll know what Kung Fu Panda is. Dreamwork's new animated film, Kung Fu Panda has been a huge success. The childrens film (funny even for older people) Po the Panda [Jack Black] as he transforms himself from a waiter to a Dragon Warrior. Kung Fu panda is hilarious with some cool animated Martial Arts action and has attracted a wide audience and been very successful. But the game...
Games made from films are always crap, especially childrens films. Kug Fu panda is actually a very pleasing game. Luxoflux has developed a nice action game combining conbat and platform, resulting in pure entertainment. With the game being aimed at children most gamers will rocket through the 13 levels. Because of the aim at children its difficulty level and lack of blood and violent effects are all that sperate it from the likes of Ninja Gaiden II.
In Kung Fu panda what astounds me from a game out now is the presentation, everything is set out so well, Menu screens and loading screens are not confusing at all ad are of the same simplicity of the old PS2.. New Game, Load Game, Options (although maybe not as extreme).
The game involves alot of jumping about obstacles and attacking, much like Ninja Gaiden II. The game is a cross between exploring, multi-combat and platforming... with a few mini-games (we all love mini-games
) You also get to control people such as Master Shiftu and Tigress, so the game is never really repetetive.
Overall an easy game to play which is very enjoyable... aimed at young children the graphical violence and difficulty is a bit low and it is very easy to complete. Its fun but it'll be over quickly when embraced by an experienced gamer.
